Lolli: How I can relate to this post. I have fond memories of 9 1/2 weeks. Not the movie but the book it was based on. The book was much better than the movie except for the disappointing ending. The book had so much examples of her submission that they left out of the movie. I reread many of the best chapters over and over again although I was the dom, not the sub.
One interesting sidelight is that the author used the pseudonym Elizabeth McNeil but she has never come forward to identify herself the way the authors of Story of O and the Sleeping Beauty triology series (Anne Rice) eventually did.
Anyway, Lolli, it's good that you Reality has worked out as well as it has and hope you continue to enjoy your journey in the lifestyle.
FD - I have never read the book, but now I think I'll do just that! That movie was pivotal in my self-awareness of who I am. -xoxo Lolli PS(-as in post script-lol): Did you catch the "wise man" thing above..... guess who????? {wink wink}
Lolli: You can buy the book on Amazon for less than $10 and I think you will find it money well spent. If you liked the movie,you will love the book. Except for the ending. Two other books worth reading are Panic Snap and Topping from Below by Laura Reese.
Yes, I caught the "wise man'' reference.wink, wink. That term was flattering. Thanks.
I haven't ever seen it. But a fantasy involving it was one of the ones that caught my eye in "Women on Top," thus becoming pivotal to my own self-awareness.
I never tried to have a beacon - probably because I was too aware of the possibility of abuse for someone like me - but once I found my reality, he was more than willing to be what I needed. With, as you say, little pushes. :)
We are very lucky to have what we have, you and I.
I've never seen this movie surprisingly, but now I really want to! I can relate to your post SO much though about that search. Just waiting for that dominant guy where it just comes naturally for him. That is ideal of course, but you are very lucky that your husband understands and that it works for you two, so hopefully it's a pretty good reality. :)
Thanks PLB! Just remember when you watch the movie it was made in the 80s - lol. But definitely watch it! And try not to think about what Mickey Rourke looks like now in present day (John Grey character). lol
